Longleng, August 12 (MExN): International Youth Day 2026 was observed at Yingli College, Longleng, on August 12 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” along with the launch of the Intensified IEC Campaign 2026.
The programme was chaired by Yingli CLW, Longleng, and commenced with a welcome address by the Yingli Mission Society.
Delivering the keynote address, DACO, Longleng, Dr Temsusashi, highlighted the diverse circumstances faced by young people while noting their common aspirations for a healthier, safer and more inclusive society. He encouraged youth to make informed choices, take responsibility for their health and contribute actively to the well-being of their communities.
Speaking on youth participation in health awareness and social responsibility, Assistant Professor-cum-RRC Coordinator, Yingli College, Lochumpbeni P Shitiri, highlighted the role of the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) in creating awareness among young people, particularly on HIV/AIDS prevention and responsible health practices.
A session on the routes of HIV/AIDS transmission was conducted by Pangjungtoshi, ICTC Counsellor, District Hospital, Longleng. The session covered modes of transmission, preventive measures and the importance of awareness in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Following the programme, the Intensified IEC Campaign 2026 was officially flagged off by Dr T Temsu Imti, Principal, Yingli College, Longleng.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Lita, DIS, Longleng, followed by a screening session reinforcing key messages on youth, health awareness and social responsibility, informed a press release from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Longleng.
