Longleng planning and development board meets for April

Longleng, April 6 (MExN): The Longleng District Planning & Development Board cleared its agenda for April during its meeting on April 6. 

According to a report from the state DIPR, Longleng Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom chaired the meeting which was held at the DC’s conference hall. DC Phom briefed the house on the latest COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and appealed the members to strictly implement basic safety protocols like social distancing, hand washing and compulsory use of masks. 

The house arrived at a decision to enforce strict SOP compliance within the town under the supervision of the district administration and the police by imposing fine on the defaulters. In this regard, DC Phom also urged the members to sensitize the people in their respective localities so that citizens can take self responsibility to control the spread of the virus in the community, the report stated. 

Matters related to the district’s participation in the upcoming Dr T Ao Trophy was also deliberated and Longleng District Football Association President Patham apprised the house on the ongoing coaching activities for the players and financial constraints of the association. He also thanked the officers for their cooperation and financial contribution in the previous years, the report added. 

Meanwhile, Longleng Chief Medical Officer Dr Obangjungla informed that a ‘Charity Screening Camp’ for ear and hearing disabilities would be conducted in the district after completion of registration drive throughout April. She also gave a presentation to create awareness and appealed the members to disseminate the information.

Dr Obangjungla further informed that registration for the camp can be done at CHC centre Yachem and Tamlu, PHC centres at Yongnyah, Shakshi, Pongo and other health centers in the district. The camp will be conducted only after the registration is done because medical equipments and facilities would be prepared accordingly, she added.

During the meeting, the PHED Executive Engineer highlighted on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and said that the mission was launched to provide safe and adequate drinking water through functional household tap connections (FHTCs) in every rural household by 2024. Stating that the mission’s objective was to focus on service delivery at every household in the country, the EE informed all allied committees at the state, district and block level to strictly implement the mission.
