Longleng, March 8 (MExN): In Longleng Town, the International Women’s Day was commemorated at Public Local Ground organized by District Task Force (Beti Bachao Beti Padhao) in collaboration with Phomla Hoichem. It was attended by women and girl students studying in various schools of Longleng Town.
Angphen Phom, Women Secretary, Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) was the guest speaker. Highlighting the importance of Women’s Day, she said the day is a celebration of women’s contribution to social, cultural, political and economic achievement, a press release from Deputy Commissioner of Longleng said. She further challenged the girl students present not to be comfortable and satisfied with being average in educational pursuit, but to strive hard to achieve excellence. She also exhorted the women to fully live out the beauty of womanhood by embracing life in oneness with God.
After the formal programme, volleyball match was played between the following teams: Phenei Soti Club, Yingli College Women Team, Longleng Town Students’ Union, and Veteran team.
