
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 21 (MExN): Acknowledging the seriousness shown by the Governor after the imposition of President’s rule (PR) in Nagaland the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has to submitted a memorandum outlining instances of anomalies for the Governor’s perusal. The memorandum brought to light the recent backdoor appointments in various categories on NREGA, under the department of Rural Development and demands that fresh appointments be conducted transparently maintaining the spirit of tribal balance in accordance with the effected area for successful co-ordination and supervision of the scheme.
The Memorandum issued by the President and General Secretary of LSU, Nzanthung K. Yanthan, and N. Ejanthung Ngullie, also pointed to the inordinate delay of Wokha-Merapani road construction by the implementing agency. The Students’ union said that it is learnt that the estimated budget is not being utilized as per the estimated provisions for the project, indicating manipulation of the project fund. Henceforth, the Union sought the “concerted efforts” of the Governor towards monitoring the project within the stipulated time as per the specification.
The memorandum also impresses upon the Governor to intervene and expedite the process for re-commencement of oil operation in Wokha district at the earliest adding that the Governor’s “positive vision towards building a new Nagaland during your Highness’s preeminence” will be greatly welcomed by one and all. Moreover the Lotha Students’ assured the Governor of co-operation in these rectification on firm belief and hope that his committed efforts will immensely contribute in the resurgence of social, political and economic life of the Nagas.
