Kohima, April 22 (MExN): As part of the yearlong celebration of Lhisemia Students Union (LSU) 75th anniversary, an open futsal tournament, road run and extravaganza night were organised on April 21 and 22.
Open futsal: The open futsal tournament inaugural on Friday at Niathu Sports Club, Khikha was graced by Mhasimhalie Yhome, President, Kohima District Football Association (KDFA).
On April 22, in Amatuer category, Dapfhütsumia Students Union (DSU) Team A won the first prize and received Rs 7000 while Tsütuonomia Students Union (TSU) Team A secured runners-up with a cash prize of Rs 5,000. In the Open Category, Khel United won first position and took home the Champion Trophy with Rs 15,000 while the Iconic FC settled for the runners-up trophy with Rs 10,000. All trophies were sponsored by Atou Yhome
Road Run: Meanwhile, on Saturday morning, a Road run event was held in three categories viz. sub-juniors, juniors and open category.
Chairing the prize distribution ceremony, Viliebeizo Liezietsu, Convenor, Sports Committee and proposed the vote of thanks. Prizes were given away by Avio Sorhie, President, KVSU; Dzüvinguzo Mepfhüo, Convenor, Organizing Committee and Dziesekhrietuo Khruomo President, LSU.
Later in the evening (April 22) to culminate the Lhisemia Students Union (LSU) ‘Open Futsal Tourney’ and ‘Road Run’, an extravaganza night was held at Kohima Village Council (KVC Hall), Kohima village with performances of prominent artist from Kohima village. A special appearance was also made by popular band Divine Connection.
