Luyong Valley Festival concludes

Luyong (Mokokchung), December 22 (MExN): The two-day Luyong Valley Festival 2017 culminated today in a grand manner with a solo competition with some of the most promising and upcoming young singers in Tuli area, under Mokokchung district. The event was graced by former Chief Secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir IAS as the chief guest.  

The festival held on the theme ‘Reinvigorating Lives’ witnessed an array of activities and competition where youths from in and around Tuli area actively participated during the two day festival; with dignitaries from the district administration, political parties, domestic tourists from neighboring Assam state partaking in the two day festival.  

On the last evening, retired Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir said that such a festival shows a hope and a future for growth, with more tourists coming to Luyong valley to witness the festival in the years to come.  

While saying that he was deeply impressed with the talented voices of the participants, Jamir said that he sees a lot of talents among the Naga youths especially in the field of music and added that he sees a future among the youths.  

In this connection, Alemtemshi Jamir, who is also the Working president of the newly floated NDPP, said that the party was formed so as to work for the welfare, development and future of the youths.  

“We want change. Naga people want change… We want to bring a good government, not high sounding government, but a good government,” said the former top bureaucrat. In this connection, he elucidated that the NDPP aspires ‘justice, equity’ and a government that does not discriminate anyone; and ‘on that basis’, he asked the people to join in that kind of a government “headed by the NDPP”.  

On the last night, the young upcoming singers belted out soul-rendering cover songs from famous singers like Whitney Houston, Ed Sheeran etc. much to the enjoyment of the audience, the judges and the visitors.
