Luyong, December 21 (MExN): The Luyong Valley Festival organized by the Luyong Students’ Union was formally kicked off by the SDO (C), Tuli, L Samuel Konyak in the presence of Luyong Village Council members, Luyong Baptist Church leaders, participants and others at the Public Ground, Luyong under Tuli ADC Hq, Mokokchung on December 21.  

This is the second edition of the Luyong Valley Festival and it is being held on the theme ‘Reinvigorating Lives’ with its main focus on youth life – educational, social, cultural and sports informed a press release issued by Supongyanger Tzudir, Convener, Organizing Committee, Luyong Valley Festival 2017.

Besides some of their original tracks, the band belted out cover songs from popular bands like Guns & Roses, Queen and some popular Hindi (Bollywood) numbers. The stage for the evening was prepared by the Tuli Lenden Baptist Church Youth Department, who also entertained the audience before the band's performance.[/caption] The chief guest, L Samuel Konyak, while speaking about the Tuli valley area, the SDO (C) asserted that Tuli area is ‘one of the best places in Nagaland’ given its potentialities of the area in its natural resources like coal, stones, tea and agar trees. He said that the Tuli area people are a fortunate lot because of the rich natural resources and the National Highway that traverses through the area. He said that with hard work and dedication, the Tuli area under Mokokchung district with its vast natural resources has the potential to be transformed even into a thriving city in the years to come.  

Chairman of Luyong Village Council, N Luin, while delivering a short exhortation speech, encouraged the Luyong Students to emulate their seniors and to become leaders and work towards the welfare, development and unity of the village and society.  

A special song was presented by Moalong Lemtur, a young upcoming singer. The pastor of LBC, Rev O Lima invoked God’s blessings, while the LSU president, Shisanginla delivered the welcome note. The inaugural programme, which was chaired by Shilurenla Jamir, was followed by the ‘Beach Volleyball’ competition, where two-man teams participated in the tournament. The short, fast and energetic ‘beach volleyball’ competition, which is a first of its kind in Nagaland, was highly enjoyed by the spectators. The finals of which will be played on the Day 2 of the Festival where another horde of activities will be presented, competed and showcased as part of the grand celebration.
