DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) today suggested that all COVID related issues “be made free of cost, like testing, medicine and treatment.”
It expressed concern at the rising number of COVI-19 cases and deaths in the State, and asked the Nagaland State Government to be fully prepared.
A press release from the NPF assured that it would extend full cooperation to the government in combating the pandemic and called upon the government to be “mentally, physically and be well equipped to fight against the pandemic.”
It viewed that the government should make available the COVID vaccine to all the citizens above the age of 18 and sensitize the importance of the vaccine to people who are still reluctant.
The NPF said that strict directives should be given to the village, wards and colonies that traced contacts whose results are yet to be received should totally isolate themselves from the public. “In many instances, the positive patient before their result have been declared is seen moving freely at their vicinity, which ultimately spreads the virus to more people,” it noted.
With the increasing number of cases, the NPF said that more hospital beds and medical equipment should be immediately arranged particularly in Dimapur and Kohima and even for other districts.
It also advised the government to utilize all the retired doctors voluntarily.
With the extension of the lockdown till May 31, the NPF said that the government must be fully prepared for the aftermath of the post lockdown period “for the safety as well as the livelihood of the people.”
