DIMAPUR, MARCH 14 (MExN): One man from Bihar was caught with illegal firearms from the Dimapur railway station on Thursday, March 14. The accused identified as Md. Dilshad Alam (22 years), hailing from Mirzapur, Bihar was caught with five pistols in his possession reportedly meant to be sold in Dimapur.
According to the SDPO, Dimapur, the arrest was made after the intelligence wing of the army alerted Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) of a possible arms deal. Following this information, the GRPS personnel went on the alert resulting in the arrest of the arms trafficker. The accused had travelled by the Kamrup Express and got down at the station around 12:30 am.
The seized arms comprised five 7.65 calibre pistols along with ten magazines. According to the statement of the accused, the arms were to be handed over to a contact person in Dimapur; whose identity is yet to be established. Investigation are said to be underway.
