Imphal | August 24

A ministerial team led by Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday left Imphal for Delhi by a special flight to call on Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Shah had reportedly invited the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues to discuss ways to bring solution to the ongoing nearly four-month old conflict while assessing the prevailing situation in the trouble-ridden state.

Among others, ministers who accompanied the chief minister included Forest Minister Th Bishwajit, Works Minister K Govindas, RD and PR Minister Y Khemchand, Health Minister Dr S Ranjan and PHE Minister L Sushildro.

Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Satyabarta and Manipur BJP President A Sarda Devi also accompanied the chief minister.

The team left Imphal by a special flight around 10.30 am.
Whether remaining ministers will join the meeting with the Union minister could not be confirmed from the source.
The scheduled meeting is considered to be a crucial one as the session of the state Assembly session is scheduled to be held on August 29 and the Biren government would need to table a detailed account on the chain of violence and the steps being taken up to resolve the conflict.
The visit of the ministerial team led by the chief minister came barely two days after the Union Home minister reportedly had a telephonic conversation with the chief minister to enquire about the present law and order situation of the state, a source said.
