The Naga People’s Front (NPF) after much ground works illogical opposition by the congress government of Manipur could extend the party in Manipur state under the dynamic Chief Ministership, Neiphiu Rio and party president Hon’ble Minister Rural Development Shurhozelie Liezietsu.
In the last 89th Manipur legislative assembly election, the United Naga Council (UNC) put up Naga candidates to forge-ahead the Naga integration.
The UNC is the most popular and powerful civil force of the Nagas in Manipur, successfully sent seven (7) MLAs to Manipur legislative assembly including hon’ble MLA M. Throhru of the 48 Mao assembly constituency (A/C) fully supported by Mao Council.
Expect impress upon its MLAs to speak loudly with a brave face for the Nagas cause in the Manipur legislative and outside, the UNC could not prevail upon the MLAs to go on its line of action. Nor could it act as a constant shield when the UNC MLAs were feeling uneasiness other than give moral support, as it was not a political party.
To day, with the entry of NPF in Manipur it exist a godfather to explore avenues how the NPF Manipur unit could go about and gear up to speak for the rights of the Nagas in Manipur with the fullest political force.
In the 28-1-2012 Manipur assembly election, the Mao electorates spread over three assembly constituencies are mostly concentrated in Mao and Tadubi constituencies. The Mao electorates not supporting the UNC beg NPF candidates will be making the greatest blunder. It will be committing political sin.
The NPF leadership for unison had selected (1) Alexander Pao to represent the Paomais in the 47 Karong assembly constituency (A/C) (2) K. Raina for Marams in 49 (A/C) and (3) L. Dikho for Maos in the 48 (A/C) fulfilling equal representation of the three sub-tribes.
When election comes, the electors become most powerful and the power vanishes the moment the electors voted. One man becomes one man army. Groups of people formed into blocks as a army company and watch, interpret or see the same person or issue in different forms influenced by emotion, offering of money and wine, overlooking the issue involves and regret after the election fever.
This can be compared watching a piece of cloud in the sky. An angry may see the cloud as his enemy. A melancholy person may observe that the cloud is in a sad state. To a poet, the cloud may appear as a beautiful hill. To young people, they may see the face of his friend or lover.
This kind of observation cannot be applied in politics. The issue cannot be looked differently. The candidates should be fully accepted. To top it, the leader who is spearheading the party should be fully trusted and give fullest support. Here, the leader is hon’ble CM Neiphiu Rio, NPF party president Shurhozelie Liezietsu and the manifesto they have pledges to take up.
The manifesto of all political parties in the 10th Manipur assembly election included to defend and strengthen the territorial integrity of Manipur. Whereas, the NPF clearly stated for integration of all Naga areas and form a common Naga homeland. This land issue is a hot contention for the last 50 years.
From the days of our grandfather they have been relating sad tales again and again that the Meiteis are majority canning and lamented they have done this and counteract against the tribal interests. Today, we face the same situation. This situation and suffering will continue to face by pour children and their children till we are liberated. For instant, if not in the 10th Manipur assembly reconstitution, in the next 10-20 years, the tribal lands will be converted into Meitei land under MLR (Manipur Land Reform Act) this please watch.
The NPF central leaders of Nagaland had toured all the Manipur Naga hill districts and declared the policies and programs. On January 14, 2012 onwards the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his interouge had campaigned in all district and sub-divisional headquarters and detailed the history and politics of the Nagas. The thousands Nagas heard in deep breath and were touched, some shed tears.
But some people rebel against their inner “conscience” and says but but. This people are not less than the Jews who fully appreciated the sermon of Lord Jesus but refuse to believe and follow him and crucify Jesus in the cross and committed the greatest sin. The political sin we committed in this election will be so costly that may not be forgiven by our inborn generation. For we will not find another Neiphiu Rio to lead us in the next 50 years.
In doing anything, one should not be too rigid but, share the opinion of others in the spirit of “give and take” and come to the ground realities without which the society will not grow.
Finally, with due respect, one and all call upon hon’ble MLA Thohru who was elected with the support of Mao Council, to lead and guide the UNC support NPF election campaign in Senapati district and earn greater love, respect and please believe, his name will be a house hold name for a long long time to come.
