
IMPHAL, May 3 (NNN): The Manipur government sent home 92 stranded individuals on Sunday after they were tested negative for COVID-19.
The state government received a total of 92 individuals who were stranded in Guwahati (87) and Mizoram (5) on Saturday due to the COVID-19 nationwide lockdown.
Swab samples of all the returnees were tested for the virus at RIMS and JNIMS hospitals in Imphal even though there were no symptoms in anyone of them. The results were received on Sunday around 11 am with negative for the virus, an official said.
As per protocol, they were sent to their respective homes after adequate counseling for strict adherence to quarantine rules, a press release from Manipur government’s COVID-19 Common Control Room said. However, they will be closely monitored by respective district administrations. The state government has been following protocols and taking all preventive steps, the press release added.
Additional director of Manipur Health department, Dr L Arkey Singh, who is the in-charge of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, said that following the negative results, they have started sending home all the returnees.
