
Imphal , February 2 (NNN): Manipur issued 33,995 Inner Line Permits (ILPs) during the month of January, the first month of the implementation of the ILP under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873.
The ILP system which the Centre extended in Manipur came to effect from January 1, 2020 with the publication of the same in the gazette of the state government on December 31, 2019.
From the very day of implementation of the system, authorities of the state government have been issuing ILPs to people who require the permit. As per an official report, during January, 33,995 permits including 14,848 regular, 18,794 temporary have been issued.
District-wise analysis indicated that Imphal West district issued the highest number of ILPs with 15,639 including 5,600 temporary permits issued at the Imphal Airport.
Jiribam, the district bordering with Assam, issued a total of 7,452 followed by Senapati district with the issuance of 5,808 permits, all issued by Mao police station manning the gate bordering Nagaland state.
The lowest number of ILP was issued by Kamjong district where only 27 permits were issued during the month. In Pherzawl district also only 29 permits were issued during the month.
