Manipur: Woman held with smuggled gold biscuit worth 3.16 crore

A woman was arrested with smuggled gold worth over Rs 3 crore in Moreh near Indo-Myanmar border on Thursday. Officers of Customs Preventive Force of the Imphal Customs Division stationed at the border town, acting on a tip-off, arrested the woman identified as Tingkholam (59) of Phaicham Veng of Moreh town near the Indo-Myanmar friendship gate no. 2 with the smuggled gold biscuits today around 8.30 am. Fifty gold bars weighing 8300 gram altogether allegedly smuggled from across the border from Myanmar side was detected from her possession. The gold biscuits would worth around Rs 3,16,14,7001, said a press release of the Imphal Customs Division. A case has been registered and investigation of the case is going on, the press release added.
