Mon, August 1 (MExN): Rifleman Methna Konyak was laid to rest amid a solemn wreath laying and gun salute by a guard of honour in his native town at Mon on August 1. Police personnel, Konyak Union, president, Konyak Students Union, president and well-wishers were present to pay homage.

The HQ IGAR (North) in a press release stated that the soldier made a supreme sacrifice for the nation while fighting insurgents in Manipur on July 29 at Khongtal area of Manipur’s Chandel district near the Indo-Myanmar border. 

The mortal remain of the martyr was brought to his residence on July 31 where people gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects to the slain soldier.

Offering condolences to the bereaved family members, Commandant, Mon Battalion gave necessary support and assistance from Assam Rifles.
