Joining the rest of the country, “Swachhagrahion Ke Swachhagrahi: Ek Se Anek” Diwas, a Nation-wide Shramdaan or Mass-social work in all the villages in India, the Kohima District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) PHED Kohima Rural Division in collaboration with Kohima District administration and Kohima Urban Division PHED conducted a mass social work at the Amphitheatre area Kisama- Naga Heritage Village, along with the villagers and Swachhagrahis of Kigwema and Phesama village.
Rajesh Soundararajan, Deputy Commissioner Kohima was the Special Guest who kick-started the Mass Social work for Kohima District at Kisama-Naga Heritage Village and was followed by a mass social work in all the villages under Kohima District.
The “Swachhagrahion Ke Swachhagrahi: Ek Se Anek” Diwas is a part of the National Campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” i.e “Cleanliness is Service or Service to the people through Cleanliness” - a Nationwide Campaign which was initiated by Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation (MDWS) Government of India.
Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign aims to accelerate the momentum of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the run up to its 4th anniversary which was started in 2nd October 2014.
This Campaign will also coincide with the commencement of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday year celebration with a nationwide campaign. This Campaign aims to re-energise the andolan i.e citizen’s movement and lay down the foundation of personal and community hygiene sustainability.
This campaign also aims to reinforce the concept of “Sanitation is everyone’s business.”
