MC Ngayo walks away with Luira Miss 2011 Title

Hunphun | February 20 : Hunphun ”Luira”  ends gracefully with gusto and fan fare yesterday night in a jam packed KK. Leishiphanit ground with the main attraction as ‘Miss Luira’ 2011.
Hunphun luira which begin since February 14 and last till February 18th has been noted as one of the most successful and memorable celebration with a blissful hodgepodge of enchanting songs, dances and varied traditional games.
Earlier in the morning function of the celebration of the last day Principal secretary, works & transport, Ram Muivah ,IAS was the chief guest and proprietor of OTC junior school Paotam Zimik was the guest of Honour (Khamiwo).
Ram on his brief but inspirational speech said that the seed sawing festival of Tangkhul’s is one of the biggest festival of Tangkhuls celebrated every year with traditional rituals and dances throughout the festivity season by and large commence from February where the significant of the festival had been noted and declare by the state government as a state holiday on February 15 as “Lui-Ngai- Ni”( Luira in Hunphun) every year in the official calendar.
Observing further Ram said that the celebration itself is very significant as most of the history and rituals of the customary practice in olden days are performed on this day where the present generation has a vista to come to know their own culture by witnessing in this celebration. Adding that the Hao/Tangkhul songs is one of the best songs in terms of value and tune as the old songs posses both history, occupation and the situation the forefathers face, which all this things are recorded on their songs only and there is no recorded history other than this so this high spirits of the song (Hao -Laa) should be reckoned to be an important medium which is indeed priceless.
Nevertheless, he observed that, historically most of the Tangkhul villagers live in a republic form based on federal clans an sub-clans structure since time immemorial and democratically decides what is best for them and followed open democracy and the people’s decision has always prevailed by the fore-father right from the existence of Tangkhul Miyun from ‘Samshok” ,this kind of the system is the best an had been mark by the prominent writers from Many foreign countries. Besides, the traditional wear like Haora (Shawl) is the most beautiful and colorful shawl amongst the world, he adds.
Luira- Phanit this year celebration is as exceptional organized by United Hunphun Phungcham Youth Front (UHPYF) comprising all the 23 locality of  Ukhrul and celebrated under the theme as, “Never and Ever”.
The closing ceremony was grace by AC of Ukhrul, Armstrong Pame, IAS as chief guest and SDPO of Ukhrul police, MCS Lanmayo Luikham as the guest of honour. The coveted Title “Miss Luira 2011 goes’ to MC. Ngayo (18), and first runner-up and second runner-up was begged by Shonchui Lungsung, (18) and Soreishon Luikham ,(18) respectively amongst from the 8 selective beauties on the final day.
