MCCI writes to DC Mkg on overloaded trucks

Mokokchung, March 9 (MExN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) today informed the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung through a press statement that trucks carrying mineral coal extracts from the various coal mines in the district, particularly in the foothill regions, have been found to be carrying more than what is prescribed by the Regional Transport Authority.

MCCI observed that overweight/overloaded trucks transporting coal causing damage to roads is one of the chief reasons for the damage caused to the roads in the area, including the arterial Mokokchung-Mariani Road. “It is learnt that the Regional Transport Authority’s weight restriction prescription is limited to 10 MTs whereas the trucks are reported to be carrying more than 15 MTs,” said MCCI President, Moasangba Jamir in the press statement.   Therefore, the DC Mokokchung is requested to interfere in the matter and make corrective measures at the earliest as well as ensure that the trucks use the weight bridge/weigh station regularly. The DC is also requested to investigate as to why truckers encourage overloading of the trucks.
