Mokokchung, January 27 (MExN): Two-day workshop on weaving, bamboo craft, pottery and beadwork under the theme ‘Indigenous livelihood skills for economic and environmental sustainability’ is underway at Mokokchung College of Teacher Education from January 27.
The workshop organized by Mokokchung College of School Education (MCTE) is sponsored by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Youth Development, Programme for Development of North-East Youth through Higher Education Institutions under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
According to a DIPR report, Prof Sibnath Deb, Director RGNIYD, chief guest while delivering his speech via Google meet said, “we need to protect and preserve indigenous culture therefore, by organizing such workshop would help motivate the younger generation in preserving ones culture.” He said, “the key to promote indigenous livelihood skills, we need professionalism, proper management and identifying the right output and said when it comes to culture, tradition and various indigenous approaches, people from the mainland have a lot to learn from the north-east people.”
Akok Walling, Retired Principal, Dimapur Government College, spoke on the theme while T Alemla Longkumer, Principal, MCTE delivered the welcome address.
