Mokokchung, January 5 (MExN): Sovran CC and Trebutchet CC registered comprehensive wins over their opponents on the second day of the ongoing Silver Jubilee Edition of MDCA Tournament at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Thursday. In the first match of the day, Sovran beat DC XI by 8 wickets. DC XI after winning the toss elected to bat first and set a target of 116 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Throngdi (50 runs) of DC XI scored the first half century of the tournament while teammate Sachin Jaiswal chipped in with 20 runs. Tiaakum was the pick of the bowlers for Sovran returning with 3/19 while Yangerlong also scalped 2/33. Sovran CC eased past the target in 14.4 overs scoring 118 losing just 2 wickets. The DC XI could have made a good fight but they gave away the game by dropping some easy catches. For Sovran, Yongsamong top scored with 54 runs while Merenchemba scored 16 runs. Sachin Jaiswal picked both the wickets for DC XI. In the second match of the day, Trebuchet beat Zero Boys by a comfortable 50 runs. Electing to bat first, Vicky Ali (32 runs) and Kalyen Gogoi (31runs) helped Trebuchet set a decent target of 138 runs. Zero Boys though could only muster 87 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Sademkaba was the lone batsman to hold on to the crease scoring 36 runs. Trebuchet’s Merenkaba was virtually unplayable as he scalped 3 wickets giving away a meager 11 runs from the 4 allotted overs.
