Fusion FC’s Nyithung scores hat-trick;
Hills XI, Socianion, and OCYU register wins
Mokokchung, October 6 (MExN): Defending champions, Fusion F/C triumphed over Youth Association Merepkong (YAM) with star striker Nyithang (J-19) creating havoc at the opponent’s defense and goal line.
Nyithang scored three goals thereby notching the first player to score a hat-trick in the MDFA Trophy 2016. Nyithang scored the goals in the 12th, the 15th, 20th and 21st minute in what was a good day for Fusion FC. The second half was also dominated by the defending champions and Fusion’s T Meren (Jersey No 9) scored a goal in the 47th minute before adding another in the 49th minute.
Fusion FC striker, Nyithang rose to the occasion again in the 57th minute to seal the game. Ably assisted by fellow teammates, he scored with a panache executed with ease. With this win, Fusion FC sails into the pre-quarters with seven goals under their belt. Youth Association Merepkong tried their best, but Fusion FC – with their ease of play and coordination between the midfield, the defense, and strikers – proved too much tackle.
The second match of the day, between debutants Tongdenyong and Hills XI F/C ended with Hills XI scoring four goals.
In the third match, Socianian FC triumphed over Alempang Youth Association 3-1. The dark horse of the tournament, OCYU in their second match of the MDFA Trophy 2016 triumphed over Mongsenbai Yongsterz FC scoring four goals.
Three days on, the prestigious MDFA Trophy 2016 marches ahead with more exciting matches on the cards till October 22.
