MDTOA temporarily lifts chakka bandh on NH-702D

MOKOKCHUNG, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Truck Owners Association (MDTOA) on Friday informed that it has temporarily lifted the chakkha bandh on NH-702D in the greater interest of the general public. According to a press release from the MDTOA president, Sangyumongba Ao and general secretary Imtisumak, the chakka bandh was called as a last resort because of the deplorable road conditions of the NH – 702D (Mokokchung – Mariani road). Responding to the clarion call of the Ao Senden – apex organization of the Ao community – and also after the on-spot inspection with the Mokokchung district administration, Ao Senden officials, MDTOA and Pick-Up Union, Mokokchung (PTUM) resolved to lift the chakka bandh temporarily, it said. The MDTOA, however, asserted that the temporary lifting of the chakka bandh is just a goodwill gesture in public interest and to facilitate the district administration and the PWD (NH) to finish their works at the earliest. If no visible improvement is seen on the vital NH 702D, the MDTOA would be compelled to resort to more drastic actions in the days to come, the press release cautioned.
