Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): A one day Adivasi Youth Samilan (AYS) was organised by the Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur (SCHE) on the theme ‘Aawa Socha’ (come and think) on July 22.
Organized under the aegis of the Youth Department, the theme was chosen with a view to stress on the need for offering young Adivasis a safe, conducive environment, and opportunities to grow and develop to their fullest potential, stated a press release received here.
The main speakers were (Dr) Fr. Pollicarp Xalxo SDB and Petrus Kindo. Petrus stressed on the need to support and encourage one another rather than standing against each other by way of groupism and jealousy. He also exhorted the youth to exploit the hidden talents so as to uplift the community. The first session concluded with group discussion and interaction. It was followed by the solemn celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Augustine Kerketta, the Administrator of Good Shepherd Seminary.
In the second session, Fr. Polycarp generated much enthusiasm among the participants with his clarion call to ‘dream and think high’, the release said.
The event came to its culmination with a cultural extravaganza. According to the release, the participants numbering over 300 youth from different villages were happy and appreciative of being able to attend the programme which consisted of “motivational and futuristic inputs for their lives.”
