Meet to discuss wage board for journalists

Kohima, April 18 (MExN): For the purpose of enabling the central government to fix and revise wages for working journalists and non-journalist newspaper employees two wage boards: Manisana Wage Board and Majithia Wage Board were constituted by the Government of India 2007. Consequent upon the constitution of the said wage board, a writ petition (c) No.246 of 2011 was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the constitution and recommendation of the Wage Board. The Joint Labour commissioner (HoD) in a press statement pointed out that pending the verdict of the Supreme Court, it is mandatory to constitute a Tripartite Committee.

In this respect, in order to deliberate upon the contours of recommendation of the two wage boards and to share hurdles and difficulties faced by the media houses in Nagaland, a meeting is being convened on May 3 at 10:00 AM at the office of the chamber of Assistant Labour Commissioner, Purana Bazar, Zion Hospital Road, Dimapur. Editors, proprietors of all local dailies (English & vernacular), members from Nagaland Press Association, Federation of Working Journalist of Nagaland, Dimapur Press Club and employees from all the media houses have been requested to attend the meeting.
