Kohima, April 8 (MExN): A joint meeting between the National Vector Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare and Police Department was held on April 5 at PHQ conference hall, Kohima. The meeting was attended by all the unit officers/representatives and officials from Directorate of Health and Family Welfare. The National Vector Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare will be allotting Long Lasting Insecticidal Treated Nets (LLIN) for protection against mosquitoes/ insect bites to police personnel, a press release received here informed.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Sashimeren, Medical Consultant (PHQ), who welcomed the gathering and expressed hope that the meeting will be conducive for both parties. Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, State Programme Officer, NVBDCP in his presentation gave a brief overview of vector borne diseases in Nagaland, its control measures and guidelines on LLIN distribution. Dr. Medikhru also informed the gathering that the programme will also be providing Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits to police personnel for detection of asymptomatic malaria. The presentation was followed by a discussion on distribution of LLIN to police personnel.
