Meeting on state level Clean India Campaign

KOHIMA, JANUARY 14 (MExN): A state level Clean India Award meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Youth Resources and Sports, Wezope Kenye, IAS.

Kenye briefed about the achievements of the Clean India Campaign in Nagaland which was organized under the aegis of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav launched from October 1 to 31 across the country. He said that the campaign was launched at Local Ground, Kohima and the youths from NSS, Indian Red Cross Society and NYKS held a cleanliness drive in and around the Local Ground. 

744 districts across the country participated and collected plastic waste over 10 lakh Kgs at national level. In Nagaland, all District Administrations, NSS, Bharat Scout and Guides, members of Youth Clubs and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan as the Nodal Implementing Agency actively participated and collected plastic waste of 45,625 kgs against the target set for 25,600 kgs. 

He also mentioned that beautification of 1,129 villages was carried out by the villagers themselves apart from cleaning and digging up of 257 traditional water sources.

He appreciated the collective effort of the youth in the state and all the nodal departments for their participation and contributing towards the success of the campaign. The members present also screened the report presented and selected Kohima district for the 1st position followed by Peren and Wokha districts as the best performing districts in Nagaland.
