With Shillong slowly returning to normalcy, the East Khasi Hills district administration decided to further relax curfew hours which have been in effect since February 28 night.
In Iewduh, which witnessed violence in the form of a series of stabbings, curfew has been relaxed from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm. Apart from Iewduh, curfew will also be relaxed in Paltan Bazaar, Stand Jeep, Motphran and the whole of the Cantonment area of Shillong.
The district administration also informed that night curfew in Shillong agglomeration is in effect from 10:00 pm of March 6 to 5:00 am of March 7.
The areas under curfew are whole of Municipal and Cantonment areas, all areas under Mawlai and Mawpat Blocks including their census towns, areas under Mylliem Block from Umshyrpi bridge up to 7th Mile Upper Shillong, Madanrting, Mawblei, Laitkor, Nongkseh, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun, Mawdiangdiang, Diengiong and Siejiong.
Meanwhile, the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division has under Section 144 CrPC relaxed the curfew in the areas under Sohra Police Station with effect from 8 am to 7 pm of March 7 and will be extended again from 7 pm of March 7 until further orders.
In Ichamati, curfew has been relaxed with effect from 8 am to 11 am of March 7 and will be extended again from 11 am of March 7 until further orders.
All areas under Shella Police Station, Tyllap Police Outpost and Bholaganj Police Check Post, curfew has been relaxed with effect from 8 am to 3 pm March 7 and will be extended again from 3 pm of March 7 until further orders.
