Mokokchung, April 17 (MExN): Minister for Youth Resources & Sports, Merentoshi R Jamir who toured his constituency from April 15 culminated his tour with a meeting with the Watsu Mungdang (apex Ao women organization), the AKM (Ao students’ Conference) and party workers at Alongmen Ward, Penli Ward, Majakong Ward, Lijaba Lijen Ward, and Ardang Ward. During the whole tour, the Minister thanked the party workers and the electorates of 25 Mongoya A/C for electing him to the 12th NLA, and promises of working for the development of youth in the state.

The Cabinet Minister who is the youngest legislator and minister in the present DAN Government expressed profound gratitude to the party workers and voters for voting him to the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and NPF Party President Dr Shurhozelie Leizietsu for allocating him a cabinet berth in the present government. However, he said that having a cabinet berth comes with huge responsibilities and therefore solicited the peoples’ continued prayer and moral support as he shoulders the responsibilities of youth resource and sports portfolio for the next five years. During the three day intensive tour by the Minister, Merentoshi R Jamir held interactive sessions with different organizations in the district and provided a patient ear to the various views and opinions expressed by the public leaders. He promised to work for the developmental activities of the constituency and also the district as promised during his declaration day for contesting the election.

Being the minister for youth resources and sports, Merentoshi R Jamir promised to look after the sports infrastructure in the state. The Minister also found time to visit the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, the multipurpose indoor sports stadium, the youth hostel and made critical observations on the sports infrastructure in the town.

The youngest minister in Nagaland came, he saw and he won the hearts of the people through his oratory skills and intellect. Many civil society leaders in Mokokchung expressed gratitude to the minister for finding time to interact with them and listening to their views and opinions patiently. He is the first Minister to have interacted with the apex civil societies in Mokokchung.

Meanwhile, Merentoshi R Jamir while touring the whole constituency promised to deliver the goods to the people as he had promised during his election campaign. He said that he has good colleagues as ministers in the preset DAN government to whom he would approach seeking developmental works in the district and the constituency. Besides, he also stated that the gates of his residence will always be open and therefore asked the people to come to his residence whenever the need arises and never hesitate to share their burden or needs.

It may be noted here that Merentoshi R Jamir, who is the son of chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir, is the elected representative from 25 Mongoya Assembly Constituency. The expectations of the people, especially from the youth on the youngest minister are diverse. The next five years would surely be a time to observe if he can work for the people and rise as a youth icon in Nagaland.
