Merit students and schools awarded in Mon

Mon, June 23 (DIPR): The Mon District Planning & Development Board has felicitated the top ten toppers of HSLC 2011, the 8 (Eight) best schools and the 5 (Five) good performing schools in the district at its monthly meeting held on June 22 at DC’s conference hall, Mon. The programme was chaired by Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology & Wildlife and Excise & Chairman DPDB, Mon M.C. Konyak. The Chairman gave away Rs. 10,000 each along with certificate to the 10 (Ten) Toppers of the district; Rs. 5,000 each to the 8 (eight) best Schools and Rs. 3000 each to the best 5 (Five) performing schools in the district.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman M.C. Konyak congratulated the students and the educational institutions for their performance in the recently conducted HSLC 2011. He appealed to the students, teachers and the institutions to have healthy competitions for human development in the district. Informing that Mon district has the lowest literacy rate in the State, he said that the students and teachers should take it as a challenge with positive attitude. He also said that the performance of the students especially in the Government Schools in the district is improving in the recent year.
The DC, Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS in his short speech said the purpose of organizing felicitation programme is to recognized and encourage the students and the Schools in the district to improve the literacy rate of the district and added that, human development will boost social economic development of the district which is far lacking behind. He appealed to the Education department, the Konyak Students Union (KSU) and the Konyak Union (KU) to ensure that all children avail free elementary education and impart awareness on education to the mass. He also felt the need of excellence performance from the Government because Government teachers are more trained and qualified then the private teachers.
While giving a brief report on the performance of the HSLC 2011 in the district, the DEO Mon said that there is a sign of improvement compared to the previous years and urged the parents to extend cooperation and support to the authority to impart quality education to their children.
The Board recommended grand in aid to the following Schools: Manlem School, Lengha village; Baptist High Schools Monyakshu; Angjong Mission High School, Mon; St. John School, Aboi and Little Flower School, Mon. The DC also reiterated to the departments who have not submitted their departmental profiles to submit immediately for annual plan. He also urged the Heads of the Department to allow their staffs to draw their salaries from their respective accounts in the bank.
The Board had a lengthy discussion on the improvement of the road between Namtola to Mon and removal of thatch houses and compulsory construction of CGI Sheet roofing in the district Headquarters Mon. The department of Transport and Statistic was entrusted to present their departmental activities in the next meeting. Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resource & Sports and Land Revenue, Naiba Konyak and Chairman MARCOFED and MLA C.L. John also attended the programme beside Principals, Head Masters and teachers of various schools in the district.a
