Dear Countrymen,
On this historic day of our nation, I extend my hearty greetings to you all on behalf of the Federal Government of Nagaland and give thanks to Almighty God for His unceasing love and care for our nation and our people
Fifty six years ago on this day, the 22nd March, 1956 our leader A.Z. Phizo, The Father of the Naga Nation with a host of Naga patriots established the Federal Government of Nagaland at Parashen, in Rengma Region. Since then, generations are passing by and most of the founding fathers and patriotic leaders have passed away. Nevertheless, because of their sacrifices, Naga nation remains unshakable on its firm foundation. All those patriots who toiled and suffered for Nagaland, sacrificing their whole life are honored and will continue to be remembered by our people as our National heroes. Taking this opportunity, I also give thanks to our people in general and fellow national workers in particular for their resolute and unflinching stand in upholding our national right.
In the recent scenario, some people posing as rationalists, speaking lofty in the name of reconciliation is causing confusion in the minds of common people but on careful scrutiny, they are meddling with the same group of pseudo nationalist breaking into numerous factions and each day hurling uncivilized words on one another by defecting from one faction to the other, thus comrades of yesterday become stern enemies today. This is sheer madness. It is also madness for those people, giving ready made recognition and logistic encouragement to all splinter groups fighting and killing each other. My advice to all is: your self acclaimed innocent action today should not be proved as an act of willful and deliberate against national interest in future. Nevertheless, I am happy that our people in general understand the truth about Naga national affairs.
At the same time, there are some people with monetary power backed by enemy government, randomly exploiting our natural resources such as Oil, Coal and other Minerals, for their own personal interests contravening National principles and the Yehzabo of Nagaland. This is a serious National offence. The Federal Government of Nagaland will not allow illegal exploitation of our natural wealth. Any further act/s in contravention of national policy will do so on individual personal risk. In the matter of exploitation of natural resources, the NNC/FGN policy stands clear, that Natural Wealth shall be utilized in the best interest of the nation.
On the conflict between Nagaland and India , it is high time for India , to find for the two sides to meet for an amicable solution between the two nations. India is responsible to pave the way for a peaceful and meaningful solution by clearing her own mess of the stage-managed so-called talks with self-style and splinter groups. The Federal Government of Nagaland remained a silent observer this far, awaiting for the suitable opportunity. It will be unfortunate on the part of India to prolong the matter any further.
It is a fact that there has been no progress in the country, not only in freedom of living but also developments in economic and industrial activities tightly controlled by occupational authorities, this same authority is trying to fragment the unity by putting up pillars at all vulnerable junctures in our society and importing alien cultures to replace Naga tradition etc. are dreadful and rejected outright in the Naga Society.
Dear fellowmen, we are aware we have no peace of mind for too long, every one’s patience has been tested to the limit due to dilly-dallying policy of India, but that does not mean Nagas are being frightened to submission it is only strengthening solidarity of our people. We have ‘our objective and purpose: our objective is to be a man among men and a nation among nations and our purpose is to do what we must do. We shall not be swayed by emotions or by helplessness or even if it takes longer time than it should take, we shall not deter’ as stated by our leader A.Z.Phizo, This was the stand of Naga people and we will continue to stand by the same till our objective is accomplished.
May God bless Nagaland that we may live up to His will.
