Kohima, August 20 (MExN): A milk collection centre/office of Vikehie-ü Women Dairy Co-operative Society (VWDCS), Phesama was formally inaugurated on August 17 last by Sentiyanger, IAS, Secretary Animal Husbandry and Veterinary and Chairman, NSDCF Ltd. in the presence of Director of AH & Veterinary, Dr. N Meyase, officials of the department and dairy federation, village elders and women members of the society.
The Milk Collection Centre was established jointly with the financial assistance from the Dairy Federation and partly by the Women Society in the form of locally available materials and labor. This happens to be the first Women Dairy Co-op. Society under Kohima district to have its own office building.
Sentiyanger in his inaugural address encouraged the women groups to meet frequently, discuss and plan to improve the functioning of the society, milk productivity and take up related activities such as vegetables and fruits. With the assured marketing avenue created for dairy farmers, the members could avail the system to market other Agri and allied produce to feed the urban population of Kohima town.
He assured the villagers that as government servants, the departmental officers are there to provide whatever essential services to be delivered at the village level and that the farmers should demand such services as a matter of right.
Dr. N Meyase, Director of A.H. & Veterinary and Managing Director, NSDCF Ltd. while exhorting the gathering, assured all possible help through the ongoing activities of the Department and Dairy Federation. Dr. A Yhokha, Project Director, NSDCF Ltd. highlighted the ongoing programmes of the Dairy Federation (KOMUL).
Dr. Joseph M. Angami, Officer-in-Charge, Mini Dairy Plant, Kohima offered the vote of thanks.
