All North Eastern States to have e-offices soon

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday addressed the e-Office workshop for northeast states with the objective to create digital state secretariats in north eastern states of India and said the e-offices will fulfil the vision of “minimum government, maximum governance” and boost transparency and citizen-centric delivery mechanism.


Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that implementation of e-office in state secretariats of north eastern states will result in creation of paperless state secretariats in a time-bound manner. “Attended webinar on ‘Implementation of e-Office in North Eastern States’ organised by DARPG_GoI towards digital State Secretariats which will result in creating paperless State Secretariats in a time-bound manner. It was addressed by Dr Jitendra Singh,” Rio tweeted.


Addressing a webinar attended by Chief Ministers and Information Technology Ministers of the northeastern region, Singh said computerisation of government work is a cardinal pillar of 'Digital India' and 55 central government ministries have implemented the project, according to a statement from the Press Information Bureau.


He assured all technical and financial support for the project implementation from civil secretariat to the district level in all the states, according to a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry. He said the e-office project will fulfill the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “minimum government, maximum governance” and will ensure ease of administration, and improve transparency and citizen-centric delivery mechanism.


Singh, the minister of state for personnel, also announced a joint steering committee to be chaired by the secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to take the project forward. Representatives from Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, National Informatics Centre, North Eastern Council and all the eight northeastern states will be the part of the Committee to suggest measures and implement the e-office project, it stated.


Nagaland Advisor for IT, Science and Technology, New and Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon, meanwhile informed through the DIPR, that the Chief Minister also discussed and reminded about the Airport in the capital and also the Trans- Nagaland highway which is one of the major project of Nagaland government to be taken up on priority. Kikon also highlighted about CM’s video conference earlier in the day with DCs, CMOs and SPs of all the districts to take reports on the ground works being carried out by them.
