Minister Along should withdraw statement: AYO Youth Force

Kohima, June 13 (MExN): The AYO Youth Force has taken exception to the recent statement by Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along and demanded that the minister “withdraw his irresponsible statement, clarify or publicly apologize before the matter goes out of hand.”

Stating that Nagas have being fighting for almost a century against India and the British invasion, Ahoms and Meitei kingdoms, before that, Secretary, AYO Youth Force Zakie Khate stated that the minister’s statement was an attempt to “defile the blood and tears of more than 2,00,000 Nagas who sacrificed their lives to free Nagas beyond and above the parameters of India's constitution and Union.”

“Indo-Naga issue is not a secessionist issue. It is not sedition. It is a matter of invasion by India. Nagas are merely claiming what is rightly bequeathed from God…,” the statement read. It further stated that the state of Nagaland was a “puppet proxy state of India through coercive power” and “an illegitimate child of the Naga Political Movement.” The Naga right can never be sold out so cheaply, it asserted. “We are a struggling people equipped with full honorable and undeniable rights. And such utterance from a minister is sheer stupidity, nonsensical and absurd,” the statement read.
