Minister Tongpang Ozukum releasing the jubilee souvenir magazine during the Longkong Students Union platinum Jubilee celebration at Longkong village, on January 6.
Dimapur, January 7 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for PWD (Housing & Mechanical) Tongpang Ozukum graced the platinum jubilee celebration of Longkong village Students Union as special guest on January 6.
According to a press release from the Minister’s Press Secretary, Ozukum encouraged the gathered student community to strive for all-round education. He opined that there are thousands of Nagas who are educated but not disciplined, cultured, well-mannered and sophisticated, because of which young educated Nagas find difficulties in finding employment in their chosen professions.
He also encouraged them to pursue their quest for knowledge diligently as the world has become very competitive for employment. He also stated the importance of time management, especially the excessive use of social media by youngsters thereby disassociating themselves from the reality, the release stated.
The minister stated that the state government has been constituting a board under Nagaland Staff Selection Board, and advised the students to be ready to approach any competitive exams.
“Competition has become very tough for employment both in private and government sector but meritorious students will be always honoured and chosen,” it quoted the Minister as saying.
The minister also gave a clarion call to the students to love their native places and their people and at the same time, to value their mother tongue and preserve it as it is fading away at an alarming rate in this new age of global media domination.
