Ministry of Tribal Affairs and BPCL to launch 75 Space Labs in EMRS

New Delhi, April 30 (Agencies): The Ministry of Tribal Affairs with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will establish 75 Space Labs in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) across 19 states in India.

This venture, supported by BPCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund amounting to RS 12 crores, aims to bridge educational gaps and introduce tribal students to cutting-edge learning opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Each Space Lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art scientific tools such as star tracker telescopes, launch vehicle models, solar system demo kits, and more, all designed with technical guidance from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). These labs are set to benefit over 50,000 tribal students, fostering their curiosity and potential in the field of space sciences.

This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to create inclusive and equitable educational opportunities for marginalised communities.

Each such lab will have the advanced scientific equipment including LVM3 Launch Vehicle and EO satellite demo model with all dub system details, Static model launch vehicles (PSLV, HRLV, IRNSS, GSAT), Table Top demo models of solar System, lunar Eclipse, phases of the moon, day and nights, 4 seasons, globe and time indicator. Star tracker telescope 150/750mm and Cansat working model, Space, Science, and Maths Teaching Learning Material (TLM) kits and ISRO space book and timeline exhibit

These labs will be established in EMRS of 19 states in India including Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Gujarat Maharashtra, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, etc.
