Mischievous activities on the border condemned

Dimapur, February 6 (MExN): The Border Peace Coordination Committee (Assam-Nagaland) has taken note of reports published in certain Assamese dailies informing about incidences that are taking place on the Assam-Nagaland border around Tiru Hill areas in which involvement of NSCN, IRB etc is also reported. According to a press note issued by its President B.P Bora and Vice President Imsu Jamir, it was informed that a team of officials of the BPCC (A-N) visited the areas concerned recently to ascertain the facts thereof. The team called on the local leading personnel including some officials of All Assam Tea Tribe Students Union (AATTSU) and ascertained from them that the government took necessary actions to handle the situation.
Further, BPCC (A-N) in its press note stated that it was satisfied that the peace loving people of the areas were concerned for stopping recurrence of such incidences. However, the team had reason to consider that the reports published appeared to be little inflated and urged upon the media to adhere to certain amount of restrictions in reporting affairs on such sensitive areas and the BPCC (A-N) also vehemently condemned the movement of personnel armed with ammunitions to avoid creating panic and any nuisance among the peace loving people of the areas.
