
Morung Express News Jointly organized by Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH) and Western Sumi Totimi Hoho (WSTH), the annual Miss Sumi contest would be held on November 8 at NER Agri Expo site, 4th Mile, Dimapur. Addressing media persons in Dimapur on Monday in this connection, President, STH, Kitoli Naje informed that the contest is being organized in Dimapur this time instead of Zunheboto since almost half of Sumi population were residing in Dimapur. The contest would be held under the theme, “Hino Sulimi” (Echt Sulimi) and is open to all Sumi damsels aged between 18-15 with a minimum height of 5.5 ft. She informed that Miss Sumi would receive a cash award of Rs 1 lakh along with gift hamper while the 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner up would receive Rs 75, 000/- and Rs 50, 000/- respectively along with gift hampers. Winners of 10 subtitles would also receive Rs15,000/- along with gift hampers. Vice President, STH, Kalito said that the organizers were also stressing on women empowerment through the contest and to train the winners in various fields aligned with women empowerment. “The winners should not stay back as Miss Sumis but should be ambassadors of peace, women empowerment, social changes etc,” she added. The organizers said that they are emphasizing on showcasing 6 different types of Sumi women original necklaces and 16 mekhalas which also comprise one of the four rounds during the contest to judge the contestants. “To emphasize on the importance of Sumi dialect, one question round would also be conducted in Sumi dialect,” the organizers added. It was informed that Minister for Roads & Bridges, Vikheho Swu had consented to be the chief guest on the occasion.
