Mizoram disposes 42 of 45 domestic incident cases

Aizawl, March 8 (PTI): Of the 45 cases of domestic incident report in Mizoram in the past three years, 42 were disposed of by courts, Dr Thanpuii, Vice President of the Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) or women's federation today said.   Addressing an official function on the occasion of the International Women's Day, Thanpuii said of the other cases like 55 claims of maintenance, eight rape cases and 130 domestic violence cases in the same period, 73 cases were referred to the Women Cell in the police stations.

  Women activists said while there were 41,392 men in government jobs, there were only 18,220 women government employees (30.56 per cent).   In the Police force, there were only 568 women (5.74 per cent) in Mizoram.
