A Mizo girl, who was reported suffering from respiratory problem after returning from outside the state, has been tested negative for Coronavirus, a Health department official said on Tuesday.
The girl was admitted to Zoram Medical College (ZMC) at Falkawn, about 16 km from Aizawl, earlier this month as she was suffering from certain illness after she arrived from outside the state.
State nodal officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and epidemiologist Dr. Pachuau Lalmalsawma said that blood samples of the girl was sent to Guwahati Medical College (GMC), where it was found to be negative for coronavirus.
The GMC informed the state government last week that the girl was tested negative for coronavirus as well as bird flu, he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Pachuau said that at least seven students, who have returned from China recently, are still put under home quarantine. He also said that the Health department is closely monitoring the students.
According to him, the state government has established screening counters at Lengpui airport, Vairente on Mizoram-Assam border, Zokhawthar on the Mizoram-Myanmar border, Kanhmun on the Mizoram-Tripura border and Kawrpuichhuah on the Indo-Bangladesh border to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state. He further said that the Health department did not detect any case of coronavirus till date.
