Aizawl, November 22 (NNN): In order to check monopoly of prices of vegetables, the Mizoram government will introduce soon vegetable market chains in the state.
According to Agriculture minister C Lalrinsanga, the state government is working hard towards this end so that vegetable prices are regulated.
C Lalrinsanga then said that traders monopolise the prices of vegetables according to their wishes. “These traders will buy vegetables from farmers and sell to consumers at the prices they like,” the Agriculture minister said. He termed it as a “serious” issue.
The minister also said that “drafting of the rules is currently going on and it will be reviewed and implemented in an effective way once it is completed”. C Lalrinsanga also said that farmers or producers societies will be set up under the vegetable market chains. They will then supply vegetables to consumers in the state capital. The state government will extend all helps in this regard to the farmers. The Agriculture minister then said the state government is working hard to see that there are no lapses in this system or policy.
