A long left need for a cesspit emptier truck in Mokokchung was realized today as Mokokchung Municipal Council under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) launched the vehicle in the presence of Mokokchung SBM members and All Ward Union Mokokchung at MMC Complex. The utility vehicle was formally launched by Sachin Jaiswal IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung.
The deputy commissioner while speaking at the launching ceremony of the vehicle appreciated the MMC and Mokokchung SBM for their concerted effort and also appreciated the public-private-partnership mode of its operation. While MMC will remain the custodian of the said vehicle, its management and operation has been outsourced to a private entity. He also felt that the end users of the service need to be sensitized on proper sanitation practices.
Mokokchung District SMB chairman M. Bendangnukshi Longkumer also said that proper construction of septic tanks and soak pits was an important and integral part of proper sanitation practices and urged the respective ward authorities to educate the masses on the matter.
ADC Mokokchung and MMC Administrator, W. Manpai Phom said that the PPP mode of operation of the cesspool emptier was opted for proper management of the vehicle and also clarified that rendering efficient service was the idea behind the move and not commercialization or profit making. President of AWUM, Ayim Longkumer meanwhile thanked the MMC and Mokokchung SBM for meeting the “basic necessity” of a cesspool emptier in the town.
