MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Administration has ordered “zero tolerance” against the sale, transportation and storage of liquor and directed enforcement agencies to intensify the ongoing drive following reports of deaths and hospitalisations linked to suspected spurious liquor.
The decision was taken at an emergency coordination meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, on September 26. The meeting was attended by enforcement agencies, town, village and ward authorities, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
As a precautionary measure, the administration advised anyone who has consumed liquor, particularly within the previous 48 hours, to seek immediate medical attention if they experience symptoms including dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty breathing, nausea, severe abdominal pain or loss of consciousness.
The public has also been asked to report such cases to the nearest local authorities. The administration appealed to all stakeholders and the public to cooperate with enforcement agencies in implementing prohibition measures. Suspected transportation and sale of liquor may be reported to the Mokokchung Police at 6009828769, Mangkolemba at 7005675868 and Tuli at 7005512093.
