Mkg sanitation drive to observe World Malaria Day

Kohima, April 12 (MExN): In observance of World Malaria Day on April 25, the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland has instructed that a “sanitation drive to create awareness” be undertaken in all the district headquarters of the State in collaboration with the respective district Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) committees. The sanitation drive will be competitive and the best three localities (wards) adjudged by a panel of judges will be awarded cash prizes, a press release from Mokokchung District SBM informed. As instructed by the Department, the youth organization/association of the respective wards is to be in-charge of the sanitation drive.   To make the sanitation drive a success, the Mokokchung District SBM has invited the cooperation of all the respective ward authorities, youth organization/association of the respective wards and all responsible citizens.

  To this effect, a joint consultative meeting between the Mokokchung District SBM, District Vector Borne Officer (NVBDCO) on behalf of the H&FW department and all the ward authorities under Mokokchung Town was held at the IMDH Conference Hall. A set of guidelines was adopted in the meeting in respect of the sanitation drive competition as follows:   1. The sanitation drive shall be an inter-ward competition.   2. Respective youth organization/association of the wards shall be in-charge of the competition.   3. The formal function in observance of WMD shall be held at IMDH Conference Hall on April 25, 2016. Declaration of results and prize distribution ceremony shall also be held there. (Program details to be announced later).   4. The respective wards may start initiating the sanitation drive from the date of publication of this information/announcement.   5. There shall be no restriction/s on the number of participants, days engaged or projects undertaken. However, it is suggested that the respective youth leaders maintain proper record and that the projects undertaken conform to the objective of organizing the sanitation drive.   6. The objective of organizing the sanitation drive is to motivate the community to think and plan for a cleaner environment.   7. All the wards are instructed to capture “Before and After” pictures of the sanitation drive projects in their respective localities.   8. A panel of judges, appointed by Mokokchung District SBM, shall adjudge the best three wards. Decision of judges shall be final and binding.   9. Awards: 1st Prize - Rs.30,000/-, 2nd Prize - Rs.10,000/-, 3rd Prize - Rs.5,000/-   10. Criteria for judging (as promulgated by the Department): Cleanliness of the locality/ward with sustainable implementations like installation of garbage bins, etc.; Unclogging of drains; Filling up of ditches and other unwanted water clogging sites; Innovative ideas to prevent collection of stagnant water.   All the respective wards are to submit their reports, preferably in both hard and soft copies, to the Mokokchung District SBM latest by 4:00 pm of April 24, 2016 at Longkumer Kilem, Mokokchung. The report may contain details of the projects undertaken, number of people involved, number of days engaged and/or other details as may be deemed fit. The report should also include relevant “Before and After” photos of the projects undertaken, the release stated.
