DIMAPUR, JANUARY 22 (MExN): Mon and Peren won their matches at the Late G Rio Memorial U-19 boys tournament on January 22.
Peren defeated Wokha by 82 runs in the first match of the day. Having won the toss, Peren chose to bat first and scored 146 for the loss of 7 wickets in 25 overs. Lalkishan was the highest scorer for Peren with 31 runs.
Randanbemo Odyuo and Thungchio Humtsoe took two wickets each for Wokha while Renben Kithan and Lichumthung Patton bagged one scalp each.
Wokha were unable to reach their target after being bowled out for 64 runs in 17.3 overs. Randanbemo Odyuo was Wokha’s highest scorer with 14 runs.
For Peren, Vicky was the best bowler with 3 wickets. Parbez grabbed 2 wickets while a wicket each went to Poiring, Haichuanei Newme, Roko Nyekha and Ranjen.
In the second match, Mon defeated Zunheboto by 50 runs. Winning the toss, Mon elected to bat first and set a target of 112 runs before being bowled out in 22.5 overs. Apunkz Punknyei was Mon’s highest scorer with 24 runs.
Alopu Aye with 4 wickets was Zunheboto’s most impressive bowler while Abhi took 2 wickets and one wicket each went to Hito K Assumi and Nighato H Yeptho.
Zunheboto however were unable to reach the target as they were bowled out for just 61 runs in 14.2 overs. Alopu Aye with 19 runs has Zunheboto’s best batting performance in the match.
Shejong Konyak for Mon took 3 wickets, while Airong Konyak and Altab grabbed 2 wickets each. Apunkz Punknyei took 1 wicket.
