Kohima, September 19 (MExN): The suspected murder of Police Inspector late Neiphretuo Metsio on September 7 continues to gain much condemnation and condolences from more organizations and unions.
Dimasa Public Organisation: The Dimasa Public Organization Nagaland (DPON) has strongly condemned the suspected murder of Police Inspector late Neiphretuo Metsio on September 7. A press release issued by Monuhar Thaosen, General Secretary, DPON appealed to the authority concerned to award befitting punishment so that it would serve as a deterrent to such crime. While stating that the loss of life cannot be compensated by any amount of condolence, DPON conveyed prayers for the Almighty God to comfort the bereaved family to overcome sorrow and grief.
Konyak Union Kohima: The Konyak Union Kohima (KUK) has strongly condemned incident and expressed shock over the “heinous crime, stating that such inhuman act towards one’s fellow human was intolerable and unacceptable in a civilized society.” The Union in a press release issued by KUK, General Secretary, T Khongjah Konyak also urged the competent authorities to take stringent action against the culprit as per the law of the land. It also conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved family and prayer of eternal rest in peace for the departed soul.
Lotha Hoho: The Lotha Hoho (LH) on behalf of the Lotha community has vehemently condemned the suspected murder and also urged the authorities concerned to award the severest punishment to the criminal, affirming similar demands made by the numerous other organisations and individuals.
A press release issued by LH, Chairman, Mhao Humtsoe and General Secretary, Er Mhondamo Ovung argued that the “practice of leniency” by entering into “negotiation for crimes committed and then to end up by forgiving in the name of Christianity” only encourage the concerned and prospective criminals.
“This common practice among Nagas must end since in many ways it motivates anti-socials to commit more crimes and then seek for negotiated settlement by forgiveness, as per precedence set, thereby discouraging the good and law-abiding people citizens,” it added. “If a crime of this nature can happen to the Executive Cream of the Law Enforcing Agency, how secure can the common people feel? It is high time that the Nagaland government machinery and especially the law enforcing agencies should gird up its weapons to check crimes timely and stringently so that criminals are deterred,” LH further stated. The LH also offered its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that the almighty God give them the “needed courage and understanding to overcome the misfortune.”
Mao Council, Mao Student's Union and Mao Women Welfare Association: In a joint press statement, the Mao Council, Mao Student's Union, Mao Women Welfare Association has strongly condemned the incident and deeply mourned the loss of the deceased. “We extend our solidarity and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family” it said while demanding the authorities concerned to deal the perpetrators of the said heinous crime at the earliest while warning that no one should be allowed to protect/shelter the culprits. “Let justice prevail by giving stringent punishment to the criminals as per law of the land,” the three organisations added.
Nagaland Peace Center: The Nagaland Peace Centre (NPC) has expressed shock and dismay over suspected murder and termed the act committed against the deceased as “unthinkable and unimaginable.” Condemning the act, a press release by NPC Chairman, N Theyo also called for befitting punishment against the culprits in accordance with the law of the land so that it will serve as a deterrent in the future. NPC further prayed for the beloved ones of the bereaved family and “promised to press towards the ends of justice and until that time seeks the support of the people to come and support the cause for the interest of one and all.”
Rongmei Council Nagaland: The Rongmei Council Nagaland (RCN) in press release issued by Chingkhiulung Gonmei, General Secretary and Mathew Rongmei, President RCN stated that such “ruthless and heinous crime” was disturbing and posed a great threat to a peace loving society. The RCN appealed to the authorities concerned to conduct impartial probe into the incident and award stringent action against the culprits and ensure peace and tranquility in the state. The council also conveyed its deepest condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed that Almighty God grant the departed soul an eternal rest.
Yimchungrü Tribal Council: The Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) in a condemnation note issued by Kiumuhean Yim, Vice President and Mathew K Janger, Information and Publicity Secretary, YTC stated that such “heinous crime should not go unpunished, that every individual and society should condemn such inhuman act of violence.” The YTC expressed hope that the law will take its own course of action and further prayed for the departed to soul rest in peace and shared sympathy with the bereaved family members.
