More condolences pour in for Dr Kakheto Zhimomi

Dimapur, February 27 (MExN): Condolences continued to pour in for former minister and public leader, Dr Kakheto Zhimomi who died on February 26 after a prolonged illness at Referral Hospital, Dimapur.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton said that late Kakheto Zhimomi left a lucrative job to serve the people of Nagaland, and as a minister and a social activist, he was an influential leader who was admired by one and all. 

“His passing away is a great loss for the society, and will be missed dearly,” Patton stated while conveying condolences on behalf of the state BJP legislators. 

Ex-PAN: The Ex-Parliamentarian’s Association of Nagaland highlighted late Zhimomi’s career as a medical doctor and an active social worker who had served various NGOs in different capacities.

It said that the late Zhimomi contested in the 1993 Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election and was elected from Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituency and served as minister of fisheries and home guards from 1993 to 1998. He was also a member of Political Affairs Committee, Government of Nagaland from 2008 -2013, served as President of Western Sumi Hoho from 2019-2021. “His demise is not only a loss to his family and the Sumi community but also to the Naga People,” Ex-PAN President Joshua Sumi stated while praying that the Almighty God gives solace and comfort to the bereaved family members. 

TR Zeliang: “I have known him since his political days when we were together in the 8th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. A sincere and upright gentleman, his untimely demise left behind a huge vacuum,” stated UDA Chairperson and NPFLP leader TR Zeliang in his condolence message.

Remembering late Zhimomi as a “free and frank man who minced no words,” Zeliang said the departed leader always strived for social harmony in the Naga society. “My association with him continued when he served as the President of WSH.  We often met and deliberated on bring peace and harmony and solving the inter-village skirmishes between the Zeliang villages and the Western Sumi villages,” Zeliang stated while acknowledging that the latter’s act of stepping down as President of WSH after the loss of three lives, was “a rare and daring act which speaks volumes about his morality and leadership.”

“I personally appreciated him for showing such noble example to the Nagas,” he added.

“He will be dearly missed by one and all and also be forever remembered for his charismatic personality,” he said, conveying condolences to the bereaved family. 

GPRN/NSCN: Remembering late Dr Kakheto Zhimomi as a man of simplicity with tremendous and immaculate influences, the GPRN/NSCNstated that he had inspired the Naga people with his sheer dedication and responsibility in every field he was associated with. 

“His outstanding leadership and discharge of responsibilities in various capacities in the field of political and social activities would be very much cherished in days to come. Besides being instrumental in strengthening his tribesmen, he was a veteran leader who conveys the reality of various realm of the society with simple truthfulness and awaken the thoughts of many with his unrestrained honesty,” it said in a condolence message issued through its MIP.

“His demise is a great loss and will be deeply felt by his community members in particular and the Naga society for whom he had made many remarkable political and social contributions during his lifetime,” it said while conveying heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
