More condolences pour in over Kiyanilie’s demise

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): Political parties and other organizations on Thursday mourned the demise of former Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie.  

The two-time Speaker and former Minister passed away at Zion Hospital, Dimapur on September 27 following prolonged illness. He was 76.  

Naga Hoho: Sharing its deepest condolences, the Naga Hoho remembered late Peseyie as a down to earth and a God fearing man who remained steadfast to his convictions.  

“He exhibited honesty and truthfulness throughout his career as a Government servant, and as a politician. He was a rare leader who remained committed to responsibilities and unwavering in his political principles,” the Naga Hoho stated in a message.  

“His exemplary career as a politician in this current time of political upheavals is a great lesson to be learned by the younger generation,” it added.  

LFA Nagaland: The Legislators’ Forum on AIDS Nagaland has expressed that it is enervated by the demise and loss of the founding member of LFA.  

In a message, the Forum recalled that late Peseyie took keen interest in establishing the LFA Office in the Assembly Secretariat during his tenure as the Speaker of the 10th Nagaland State Legislative Assembly 2003 – 2008.  

“It was because of him the State of Nagaland could gain support of all 60 legislators in the prevention response of HIV/AIDS in the state till today. The UNAIDS recognised LFA Nagaland as the Champion of UNAIDS initiative for HIV/AIDS advocacy among the states of India,” the Forum reflected.  

The LFA recalled that during his tenure as the Speaker of NLA for two terms, late Peseyie relentlessly advocated for HIV/AIDS infected and affected people in their struggle for overcoming Stigma & Discrimination.  

“His commitment to understanding challenges of HIV in the state was beyond description, true to an elderly and fatherly person. He also had a true spiritual implication of the disease and exercised clear conscience in dealing with the suffering of needy persons,” it stated.  

“We will continue to hear the echoes of his supporting voice in all our endeavour in mitigating the ills of our society,” the LFA’s message added.  

Tenyimi Peoples' Organisation: The Tenyimi Peoples' Organisation (TPO) stated that it was deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Kiyaneilie Peseyie.  

“In his passing away TPO has lost a leader whose unassuming but well-meaning disposition was like a rock to the Tenyimi community and thus a void has been created which can never be filled,” the TPO’s message read.  

A separate message from the Tenymimi Union Dimapur also expressed shock to learn of the demise of “our leader” Kiyanilie Peseyie.  

Tangkhul Union Kohima: The Tangkhul Union Kohima remembered late Peseyie as one of the most sincere legislators and stated that his good deeds and services rendered to the people of the state in various capacities will be cherished and remembered by the people.  

Nationalist Congress Party: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Nagaland expressed profound sorrow and grief at the sudden passing away of Kiyanilie Peseyie.  

“Late Kiyanilie Peseyie was a humble and dedicated politician whose sole aim was to serve the people and rendered his service to the people and for the welfare of the Naga society. The vacuum caused by his passing away shall be difficult to fill for all times to come,” a message from the NCP read.  

Janata Dal United Nagaland: The Janata Dal United Nagaland remembered late Peseyie as a humble and dedicated politician and stated that his demise has brought immense loss to the Nagas and created a huge vacuum.  

Lok Janshakti Party Nagaland: The Lok Janshakti Party Nagaland also remember late Peseyie as a dedicated and humble leader. “It is indeed a great loss for all the Nagas,” the LJP stated in a message while adding that a vacuum has been created by the loss of the leader.  

The above organizations and political parties further conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty would grant them strength and solace.
