More conduct cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’

KVK Mon: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mon (Aboi) organized two-day Swachhata Hi Sewa, field days and training programme on ‘Production technology of rapeseed and pea’ with the theme ‘resource conservation technologies’ on October 2 and 3 at KVK campus Aboi and Ngangching village under National Innovations Climate Resilient in Agriculture- Technology Demonstration Component (NICRA-TDC). KVK, Asst Chief Technical Officer (Plant Breeding) Dr. Manoj Singh Sachan showed result demonstration of Direct Seeding Rice (DSR) technology variety IR-36, and soybean variety JS-335 at seed production plot in relation to climate change. Double or sequential cropping system were also highlighted to the farmers to grow winter crops such as pea, mustard, winter maize, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, chilli, beans, etc at the demonstration units of the KVK Instructional farm. 24 practicing farmers and farm women benefitted and were distributed seeds, critical inputs and hygienic materials.  

Kiphire: Kiphire organized Swachhata Hi Seva at town centre point with V. Kashiho Sangtam Minister Soil & water conservation geology and Mining speaking at the occasion and distributed prizes to the cleanest ward in the town. Speaking at the occasion Minister said, “Cleanliness is a service which not only serves the purpose of an individual but to the society and the environment as well.”  

Disclosing the state government has received around 5 crore from donation which is contributed from individuals and well-wishers were decided to organize mass social work across the state by earmarking certain amount in all the administrative headquarters and added, during this cleanliness campaign drains, nallas and surrounding will be cleaned. 

He asked the gathering to not wait for others to clean the town and surrounding but to take up as a mission to save from flood, landslide and other natural calamities. Highlighting the objective of Swachhata Hi Seva, the Minister called upon the gathering to join in the dream of Gandhi to fight for clean and healthy India.  

Minister also handed over cash prize to cleanest ward in the town, where High school ward was adjudged the first, power ward the second and medical & Bazaar ward were adjusted the third. Reny Welfred IAS SDO (c) Kiphire congratulated the citizens for successfully completing the Swachhata Hi Seva week and also called upon the citizens to join hands towards the new dimension of progress of the district. Longtiba SDO (c) while chairing the program expressed satisfaction that the town is now looking fresh without dust and asked the gathering to hold on to this good habit in the days ahead as well.  

Longleng: Swachh Bharat Mission was observed at Longleng on October 2 at the DC’s conference hall on the theme ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ in which the sanitary workers were felicitated.  

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam stated that effort and contribution of the sanitary workers to the community were not recognized. He further said that we can help the sanitary workers by “changing our bad habits of littering around and maintaining cleanliness of the surrounding and lighten their burden”. The DC also highlighted on the objective and mission of Swatch Bharat to “create awareness for clean India and to involve all Indians to keep their surrounding clean for healthy living and clean environment.”  

The DC also informed that “non-violence pledge will be held on October 3 at DC’s conference hall and urged all the HoDs and Government officers to compulsorily attend the programme without fail”. A press statement from the office of DPRO Longleng informed that the programme was attended by the ward leaders, all ambassador of SBM Longleng, DBs& GBs, Sanitary workers and NGOs.  

Pfutseromi Village Community: As per State Government’s decision to observe September 28 – October 2 as Swachh Bharat week and also commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 as Swachh Bharat Day, the Pfutseromi Village Community organized mass social work at NH 29 (below Pfutsero town, PWD road, between Pfutsero town and Pfutseromi village).

31 AC Akuluto: 31 AC Akuluto led by Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor for Skill Development, Labour & Employment and CAWD along with civil administration, 31 AC Akuluto BJP party workers and civil societies observed a one day cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign on October 1 at Akuluto town. In a press release by the Advisor’s media cell, a short programme was conducted where the Advisor spoke on the need to maintain clean environment within the town. He also stressed on the need to make cleanliness our way of life. Later, the Advisor along with Akuluto town committee members, civil administration and public leaders inspected the proposed dumping site.  

Wokha: To mark the culmination of the nationwide social work Swachhta Hi Seva, a plantation drive was conducted at Tsumang Lake on October 2. Addressing the public, MLA Dr. Chumben Murry said Wokha is the only place in the state to have such a unique lake in the midst of its town, and appealed to the public to have sense of ownership and protect the plants being planted to make the lake more beautiful and greener. He also thanked the then Deputy Commissioner, K.K. Sema who initially started the beautification and development of Tsumang Lake. Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon stated that cleanliness campaign should not end. A prize distribution ceremony was held at DC Office’s Conference Hall, Wokha for the best and cleanest colonies in the town: Vungotchu, Etsutchuka and Tchyiro were adjudged the cleanest colonies; High School, Tsumang ‘A’ and Tsumang ‘B’ were awarded with consolation prizes. Team Metamorphosis, Green foundations, colony representatives and department officials took part in the plantation drive.  

Mon: Swachhta Hi Seva campaign in all public health facilities ended successfully under Mon District on October 2. Focusing on the theme ‘Swachhta hai Swasth Jeevan Ki Buniyad’ the District Health Society, Mon empowered communities on water sanitation & hygiene and its impact on health. The campaign was observed by organizing cleanliness drives in and around the public health facilities across the district, by demonstrating hand-washing techniques in some of the schools and conversed on personal hygiene to the adolescent girls in schools. On October 2, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated along with the campaign with ‘Swachhta Pledge’ and painting competition on sanitation and hygiene.  

Zakiesato Memorial HSS: In response to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minster Narendra Modi, cleanliness drive in and around Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School and on the street of National Highway 39 from DDSC Stadium to Nagaland Gate, Golaghat road was held and cleanliness pledge was administered in the school assembly on October 1.
