More organisations seek solution to NSSTA issue

Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The Lotha Students Union (LSU) and the Khiamniungan Students Union (KSU) have come out in strong support to the ultimatum served by the NSF and ENSF, appealing to the state government to implement the agreement that was reportedly made between the Department of School Education and Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) on June 12, 2018.

In a press release on September 20, the LSU stated that the Department had agreed to ‘rectify’ the nature of appointment of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) teachers of 2010 and 2013 batches “basing on the appointment order and other relevant documents.”

“The LSU questions the sincerity of the concerned department and the state government as to how could the outmost priority in the education sector could not be implemented when the agreement has been made in principle but ignored for nearly two years,” the statement read.

It urged the state government to implement the decision taken in principle at the cabinet meeting held on the October 3, 2018 to bring all the teachers of 2010 & 2013 batches into the mainstream of school education cadre, while reminding of the October 5, 2018 office memorandum issued by the Cabinet Cell.

The LSU appealed to the state government to immediately intervene and respond positively towards the genuine issue of SSA & RMSA teachers so that no retaliation takes place.

Meanwhile, the Khiamniungan Students Union (KSU) expressed dismay over the lapse of time and urged the state government to honour the agreement in toto, so as to deliver justice and equity to the teaching community.

It also appealed the teaching community to diligently serve the student community, keeping aside all grievances. The union resolves to stand along with the NSF and ENSF till the demand is delivered by the state government, it added.
