Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): Several organizations today expressed condemnation at the ‘attempt to murder’ of L. Doulo, the proprietor of Kuda Cold Storage located at Model Village, 5th Mile, allegedly by NSCN (K) cadres on September 18 in Dimapur.
ACAUT Nagaland: The ACAUT Nagaland has expressed shock “at the attempt on the life of a prominent and elderly businessman in Dimapur by miscreants, reportedly from the NSCN (K).” The ACAUT Nagaland vehemently condemns such act of terror on law abiding and respectable citizens, a press statement from its Media Cell said.
“The ACAUT Nagaland demands that the NSCN-K clarify their position to the people of Nagaland,” it said adding that, “It is extremely unfortunate that so far, the NSCN (K) leadership hasn’t condemned the attempt to murder upon the life of L. Doulo, nor have they condemned any of the bombings or throwing of grenades in and around Dimapur in the last 4 years.” Their silence can be seen as condoning such actions of terror on innocent civilians especially given the sensitive and volatile atmosphere prevailing in Nagaland, it maintained. ACAUT Nagaland further requested the police not “to leave no stone in the investigation of this case and swiftly bring the culprits to book.”
CRPO, Kohima: Vehemently condemning the ‘life attempt,’ the Chizami Range Public Organization (CRPO), Kohima in a statement expressed surprised that the National workers “went to the extent of attempting life on such as elderly local businessman in the name of demanding tax for the national cause.” The CRPO Kohima further wished him a long life.
ACAUT, Wokha Unit: While condemning the “life attempt made on one respectable citizen,” the Wokha Unit of ACAUT along with the Frontal Organisation of Wokha District stated that “enough is enough, now the Nagas will no more keep silent on any anti social elements.” It further asked the NSCN (K), whose cadres were allegedly involved in the incident, to “nab those main culprits and take exemplary action at the earliest.” “And we also demand the law enforcing agencies to book those culprits and award befitting punishment as per the law of the land,” said the unit in a press statement. .
Thetsümi Welfare Society, Kohima: The Thetsümi Welfare Society, Kohima also vehemently condemned the “assassination attempt” on an exemplary entrepreneur, who has achieved the position through hard labour and truthfulness. He is an exemplary entrepreneur especially to the younger generation who are from economically weaker background and his contribution to the church and society is immense, the TWSK said in a press statement. TWSK further appealed “all Nagas to rise above partisan and ism to condemn this dastardly act so as to prevent recurrence in the coming days.”
“We also appeal to the authorities concerned to leave no stone unturned to bring the culprits to book at the earliest,” the statement added.
Zhavami Union Dimapur: The Zhavami Union Dimapur while expressing shock and condemning the “attempt murder,” urged “one and all” to join and unite together to erase the evils in the society before “it’s too late.” The Union in a press statement further asked the concerned authority to book the culprits at the earliest and do justice to the victim.
Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur: The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur has also condemned the alleged “dastardly act of NSCN-K” and urged upon the responsible authorities to leave no stone unturned in arresting the culprits, involved in anti social activities under the guise of National workers. The TSUD in the press statement also expressed extreme pain to observe that “the anti-social elements in our society have the guts to freely carry arms and shoot whomever does not fulfill their whims and fancies.” “We appeal to the law enforcing agencies to ensure that the culprits are arrested so that the citizens feel safe... Such action deserves condemnation from all sections of the society,” it added.
Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation: The alleged intention to “murder a fatherly figure” in broad daylight is shocking and condemnable, and has no place in a civilized society, the Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO) stated.
“We strongly condemn the assassination attempt on the life of a prominent entrepreneur,” WCYO said in a press release. "L Duolo is a humble businessman who believe in 'work and eat' policy and is an inspiring and fatherly figure to the youth, its community and to the Nagas at large," it added.
“The organization also questioned the credibility of NSCN(K) for demanding money and goes to the extent of attempt murder in the name of Nation's freedom,” the WCYO said appealing to all NGOs and civil society to condemn such dastardly and cowardice act before any more citizen become a victim to them.
The Youth Organisation also urged upon the law enforcing agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly by taking appropriate action without delay. WCYO will have no option but will be forced to take its own course of action if the law enforcing agency do not bring justice to the victim, it added.
Further, WCYO further stated warns that the organization would not remain mere spectators and would “not tolerate such kind of barbaric act upon any members of its community or Nagas to be precise”
If any harm is done to L Doulo in the future, then the persons mentioned in the alleged extortion slip would be held fully responsible, it asserted.
WCYO also conveyed in strongest term the message that it will not "allow any gun wielding social parasite to roam freely who are a threat to society's peaceful environment and human progress and has no place in a civilised society.”
